Coalition Enhances Urgent Care Network (October 2007)

To expand services to members, FrontPath Health Coalition has added additional urgent care centers to its list of providers.

Network urgent care centers now include the following locations:

• East Side Urgent Care center - Lima
• Northwest Ohio Urgent Care, Inc. (formerly Maumee Urgent Care) - Maumee

Tax Incentives Offered for Wellness (October 2007)

In July, the Healthy Workforce Act (S, 1753) was introduced and calls for tax incentives to businesses offering wellness programs that encourage employees to lead healthier lives and prevent chronic illness.

This legislation would offer a 50 percent tax credit of up to $200 per employee for comprehensive health promotion programs.

New Staff Adds Value to Coalition (October 2007)

FrontPath has expanded its professional staff to assume more control of its business, be more responsive and provide better service to our partners and the community.

Jodi Hansen has been named vice president and is responsible for claims repricing and health quality initiatives. Prior to joining FrontPath, she worked 20 years in the health care management consulting business.

Julie Pavelko has been named regional sales and marketing executive. She is responsible for member recruitment and retention. Julie is a registered nurse and has a law degree.

Mark Schroeder has been named senior health care analyst. He will assist with health care claims repricing and health quality initiatives. Prior to joining FrontPath, he was a benefits and financial analyst for Sky Financial Group.

Jeana Plummer and Tracy Thornson have been added to the customer service staff. Jeana worked for 30 years at the Medical college of Ohio and Tracy has experience in pension and profit sharing plans.

FrontPath Announces
New Staff, Location (May 2007)

FrontPath Health Coalition announces a new chief executive officer and the expansion of its staff as it relocates to new headquarters.

Sue Szymanski of Perrysburg has been promoted to chief executive officer of the Coalition. Since 2003, she served as the executive director and has been with FrontPath for nine years. Prior to joining the Coalition, she worked for 18 years in health care administration. Szymanski has a master’s degree in Business Administration from The University of Toledo.

Jodi Hansen of Toledo has been named vice president. In this newly created position, she is primarily responsible for the claims repricing and health quality initiatives. Prior to joining FrontPath, she worked for 20 years in the health care benefits and management consulting industry. Hansen holds a master’s in Health Services Administration from The University of Michigan.

Julie Pavelko of Perrysburg has been named to the position of regional sales and marketing executive. She is responsible for member recruitment and retention. Pavelko is a registered nurse and has practiced law for eight years.  Pavelko has her Juris Doctorate from The University of Toledo.

FrontPath has relocated its office to 12875 Eckel Junction Road in Perrysburg from Arrow Head Park in Maumee.

FrontPath is a membership organization that was established in 1988 to improve the quality, cost and access to health care services available in Northwest Ohio, Southeast Michigan and Northeast Indiana.

As a not-for-profit coalition of public and private employers and union plan sponsors, FrontPath has a membership of 135,000 covered lives.

Health Care Spending Slows (May 2007)

Health care spending growth in the United States slowed for the third consecutive year in 2005, increasing 6.9 percent compared to 7.2 percent in 2004 and 8.1 percent in 2003.

The 6.9 percent growth in 2005 marks the slowest rate of growth in health spending since 1999, when the growth was 6.2 percent, according to a report issued by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid services.
